Deaf (little d) or deafened - generally describes someone who learned to talk before they dropped all or most of the hearing. They are able to sense misplaced between the sides and the reading!

Hardofhearing - generally describes someone who has dropped some of the reading but nevertheless has some reading that is beneficial staying.

Reading - relates to someone who h AS reading within normal limits.

A lot of people believe hearing loss is just an annoying hint of later years in family and their friends.

Almost 15% of the inhabitants in the UK have some level of deafness (1 in 7 individuals)

For each 10,000:

10 may be created profoundly deaf

20 may have become deeply deafened

100 may be partly to seriously deaf / deafened

600 may be hardofhearing to partly deaf / deafened

B.S.L. is the primary or preferred language around 70,000 individuals in the U.K.

About 2 thousand people use hearing aids (and perhaps another thousand might reap the benefits of performing so)

Several join signals from BSL with Language to convey i.e. use Sign Supported Language (S.S.E.)
